While speaking to Sky Sports via Football Daily, Dharmesh Sheth revealed plenty about Ismaila Sarr. He also said that the Watford winger is one of the players on the radar of Newcastle United.
The sporting director of the Tyneside club is working hand in hand with Eddie Howe to make the squad better. He is searching to add a new wide man to Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the 2022 – 23 campaign. He also identified Ismaila Sarr of Warford as a potential player to add to their squad depth.
Sheth mentioned that Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen is the number one target for The Magpies at the moment. But the Watford man can be a cheaper alternative if the club cannot afford to sign the Frenchman.
Ismaila Sarr and Newcastle United situation
The Senegalese international has been quite good for the Hornets from the right wing position. In 91 apps in all competitions for Watford, he managed to score 24 goals and registered 18 assists. In the recently concluded season, the player only made 22 apps for the club, all in the Premier League. This is because he suffered recurring injuries which halted his progress for the London club. In that time, he scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists.
Ben Foster previously praised the winger saying: “It’s scary, isn’t it, really? It’s almost like everything seems to just be off the cuff. Every single time he gets the ball, even he doesn’t know what he’s going to do, but it will end up being good either way.”
The current right winger for Newcastle, Ryan Fraser couldn’t live up to the expectations. The former Bournemouth man has been very inconsistent for Eddie Howe’s side, scoring 2 goals and registering 5 assists in 45 PL appearances. Now ditching the Scottish international, Howe can land an upgrade on the player.
