Newcastle United look set to appoint Dan Ashworth as their technical director according to Fabrizio Romano. The Magpies took permission from Brighton before talking to the Englishman for his appointment. Dan Ashworth handed his resignation to Brighton as he was also inclined towards joining Newcastle United. The deal will take place for four years that is till 2026.

Newcastle United seems to have found life after the Saudi takeover. Eddie Howe took over as the manager of Newcastle United but had a slow start. However, the January signings have helped the manager to get some momentum before going into the next season. Nevertheless, they will need more than to stabilize and challenge the big clubs in England.

Newcastle saw themselves in the relegation zone for a major part of the season. They have only recently moved out of the relegation zone after their 3-1 victory over Everton. They are currently 17th on the league table four points ahead of the 18th placed Watford. The new signings like Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, Dan Burn, and Kieran Trippier helped them get a win against Aston Villa and a draw against West Ham.

A technical director is a very important position for a football club to make decisions. A director can help the club in making decisions regarding the transfers of players. This is a very important part of the game, especially when building a squad. Dan Ashworth has done a remarkable job of transfers at Brighton & Hove Albion and looks set to repeat that at Newcastle.

Why Dan Ashworth is a major appointment for Newcastle United?

This is a very important phase for Newcastle United as they are building towards a better future. Their base has to be very strong in order to sustain themselves in a competitive footballing world. A technical director can help them make signings that are accurate for their development. He can help to negotiate and get better deals for players while also helping the financial side of the club.

Brighton have turned into a solid Premier League and they might be in the top-flight for a long time. They recently got promoted in 2017 and they look like they never left the Premier League. They are currently 9th on the Premier League table ranking higher than Newcastle. Ashworth has helped Brighton in signing Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster, Neal Maupay, and Marc Cucurella.

Ashworth has also played a major role in England’s recent success on the international level. He has helped to turn England into a young side that plays fast-paced football. He can certainly replicate that at Newcastle as he will look forward to signing more young players at Newcastle. The Magpies currently has very few young players who play for the club regularly.

A four-year-old deal sounds about right for the development of the team. Eddie Howe is also a talented manager who can help Newcastle achieve success along with the help from Dan Ashworth. Newcastle will support both the manager and the technical director with their financial power. If the club, manager, and technical director all work at their best, Newcastle can turn into a force in the following seasons.
