Neymar May Be On His Way Out of PSG

Neymar, Six Sports

Brazilian superstar Neymar could be on his way out of PSG this summer. The Parisians are ready to entertain suitable offers for the winger, a report states. The 2021–22 season was turbulent for the Brazilian international. Injuries plagued his season, and he received boos from his own fans.

Goal claims that PSG no longer sees Neymar as a necessary player. In the upcoming summer window, they are willing to part ways with the former Barcelona player. Neymar struggled with his fitness last season, making only 28 appearances across all competitions. Regardless, he still scored 13 goals and had eight assists in the Champions League and Ligue 1.

The Parisians signed Neymar to bring the elusive Champions League trophy home. His move broke the market: 222 Million Euros was nearly double the record fee of that time. Yet, the Champions League dream remains unfulfilled. In addition to him, PSG are looking to move on Mauro Icardi. Wolverhampton Wanderers are a potential destination for the Argentine striker.

Possible Destinations For Neymar

Neymar has been linked with a move back to the Nou Camp. However, with his astronomically high wages and Barcelona’s poor financial condition, a move is very unlikely.

Neymar is on extremely high wages and has 3 years left on his contract. Only a few clubs in the world can afford this amount of money. Newcastle United is one of them, but the Brazilian made it clear that he is not interested in a move there.

Frankly, it looks unlikely that he will move on from Paris this summer. The financial implications of such a move would be huge. The money spent can be a risky gamble if we take into account his poor fitness track record. Moreover, he is now 30 years old. Clubs would like to invest in younger talent more.
