Inter Milan and Italy star Nicolo Barella is reportedly set for a move away from the club this summer. The 26-year old had an impressive season with Inter, who had a memorable season. Barella was an imminent part in Inter’s success last season. They won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, finishing third in the Serie A and reached the finals of the last season’s Champions League. His incredible display has led him to be a top target for several big clubs across Europe.
Which clubs are chasing Barella?
It was reported that Premier League clubs Liverpool FC and Newcastle United are the front-runners for signing the talented Italian this summer. As for the Magpies, the recent signing of Sandro Tonali might be enough to provide the strength that Eddie Howe is looking for. Even though a creative and a direct midfielder like Barella can do wonders at Newcastle, it simply doesn’t look like he could fit in Newcastle’s mid now. Also as per reports, Newcastle are now focusing on bringing an attacker to strengthen their attack. A ‘star’ winger, primarily on the left hand side is what the Magpies are in search of. Some of the best wingers have been linked to them for a move. Therefore, it looks unlikely that Newcastle would be going for another star midfield signing this summer after Tonali.
Although there haven’t been any contacts made yet but Klopp and Liverpool keen to bring Barella. Recently, Fabrizio Romano in his podcast, ‘Here We Go‘ said, “Jurgen Klopp has always been a big fan of Barella, and so let’s see what happens at Liverpool.”(sic). Liverpool were reported to be one of the favorites to sign Barella, however, the delay in making any move had suggested that the Reds might not be too keen on signing Nicolo. However, with his latest podcast, Romano has made it clear that Liverpool cannot be ruled out of the race to sign Barella.
Keep an eye on Liverpool
A star signing in the midfield is exactly what Liverpool need right now. Nicolo Barella would fit in well at Liverpool amidst their attempt to rebuild this summer. It is very clear that they want to sign more midfielders after Alexis Mac Alister. They have also been linked to Manu Kone and Kephren Thuram as well for a possible transfer this summer. However, they have not made a move for any of these players yet.
Liverpool clearly should not delay any further to start official talks with the players now. Especially with Barella as he is attracting a lot of interest from multiple big clubs. As per reports, it looks like the Reds might be finally making a move for Barella. It could be expected that they make a bid for the player in the upcoming days.
