Kylian Mbappe is on the verge of leaving PSG this summer with Manchester City being one of the clubs linked to the Parisian earlier. As reported earlier, Kylian has made it clear that he wants to stay at PSG till the end of his contract, which ends in the summer of next year. Reportedly, he will almost ‘guarantied’ leave PSG next summer. However, PSG want him to leave this season, in exchange of a good amount of money rather than leaving as a free agent next season. PSG have reportedly even listed Kylian on the market and are open to listening offers for the Frenchman. The only way PSG want their star-man to stay with them is by signing a new contract, beyond 2024.
Real Madrid has always looked like Mbappe’s next club but it seems clear that he will not be a Galactico this season. As reported, Real have already signed Joselu on loan and will not be looking to sign another attacker this summer. The plan is to save money this season and then go ‘all in’ for Kylian next season. A lot of other clubs have also been linked to the Parisian for a possible move this summer. English giants Liverpool were linked for a move last summer as well as this summer. Recently, Arsenal have emerged to be amongst the clubs, who are eyeing an ‘unbelievable’ move for the Parisian.
Earlier, the European and English Champions Manchester City also were rumored to swoop in a deal for Kylian this summer. It was reported that City are eyeing a £165m deal. Later, it was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that City have ‘cooled’ down these talks.
“He’s not joining Manchester City.“
Manchester City’s boss denied all the rumors related to City looking to sign the 24-year old. When asked about, Pep said, “We will not sign Kylian Mbappe, he’s not joining Manchester City. All of you know where he wants to go.”, indicating that he also believes that Mbappe wants to go to Real Madrid.
Despite the rumors, it looked very unlikely that City were looking to go for Kylian. They already have a star-studded attack, which brought all the glory that Pep and team were dreaming of. The signings of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland especially, proved to be the missing piece in City’s lineup. Along with these two, Jack Grealish also had a much improved season, turning out to be a crucial part in City’s success last season. In addition, City also have incredibly talented attackers in the form of Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and even Bernardo Silva, who can even play as a midfielder.
Therefore, it clearly looks like City are in no need of any more attackers right now. Their priority still is to sign a midfielder and a defender. They have completed the signing of Mateo Kovacic to replace the legendary, Ilkay Gundogan. They are further are reported to be the ‘favorites’ to sign Josko Gvardiol.
What next for Mbappe?
Even though City are out of the race, there is still a big list of clubs interested in signing the French superstar. However, many pundits believe that PSG would probably back down and allow him to continue with the club for another season. They believe this to happen as a lot of big players have or will leave PSG this summer. Therefore, PSG would want at least their best player to be there with them in such a delicate and crucial situation and help them secure a decent performance in the season.
Looking at the situation, it is very confusing and uncertain. It is still very difficult to predict where we would see Kylian play next season. Will he stay at PSG? Will he finally become a Real Madrid player? or are we up for a big surprise?
