Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on keeping Jesse Lingard at Old Trafford. The English midfielder was on his way to West Ham United. But he decided to stay at Manchester United after a successful loan spell at the London Stadium.

In a recent interview, West Ham boss David Moyes revealed that Solskjaer had no intention of selling Jesse Lingard. Moreover, according to Sky Sports, Jesse Lingard’s move to West Ham was never close. During his time at West Ham, Lingard scored 9 goals in 16 appearances. He played a vital part in the Hammers’ journey to secure a European spot.

Jesse Lingard has only one year left on his contract and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to tie him down with a new contract. Lingard might find it difficult to break into the first team. As he has to fight with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho. Meanwhile, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo could limit his chances.

How can Solskjaer find gametime for Jesse Lingard?

Manchester United are stacked with world-class talents when it comes to attacking. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers playing a 4-2-3-1. Meanwhile, Lingard prefers playing on the right flank. Mason Greenwood has been one of the most in-form players in the Premier League. He has scored three goals in his opening three games in the Premier League.

Moreover, Jesse Lingard prefers playing in the number ’10’ role. Lingard played in the same position at West Ham and did an excellent job. But it might be difficult for him to get in ahead of Bruno Fernandes. The best way that Solskjaer could do to find time for Lingard is to rotate the team as much as possible. This would allow players like Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek to get more first-team minutes.
