Pep Guardiola comments about the sanctions provided to Manchester City

Past quotes from Pep Guardiola have resurfaced about quitting his post from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola had said that he would quit his position as a manager if he ever feels like they lied to him. Manchester City have broken the fair play regulation set by the Premier League. They have broken the regulations 100 times over the past 10 years now. These rules relate to all commercial partnerships and other things which allowed them to navigate the UEFA’s rules. Furthermore, the Sky Blues have successfully dodged the two-year ban from Europe. This happened because UEFA had brandished the statute limitations in recent years. Pep Guardiola had stated previously that he would leave his job as a manager if he believed that City lied to him.

Old Pep Guardiola quotes about this matter resurfaced again

Pep Guardiola was asked about these sanctions a year ago. He had commented back then about how he would leave his position if he ever finds out that City lied to him. He was very clear on his stance about the financial fair play rule. Pep Guardiola commented,

“Why did I defend the club and the people? It’s because I work with them. When they are accused of something I ask them: ‘Tell me about that.’ They explain and I believe them. I said to them: ‘If you lie to me, the day after I am not here. I will be out and I will not be your friend any more, I put my faith in you because I believe you 100% from day one and I defend the club because of that.”

Pep Guardiola further stated,

“When you put something here [sponsor] it’s overpaid, but other [clubs] the money comes from the USA but the money is correct, even if it’s higher. We have to deal with that, we have to fight with that. As always I am a big fan to support this organization, no doubt.

“It’s a situation in 2012 or 2013, I was still in Barcelona, most of the people running that are not here now, but of course I would not like it. What I like is to represent a club who do things properly [and] well. It’s not about winning the Champions League and the Premier League. We want to do well for our people and our fans.”

Manchester City are currently sitting in the 2nd position of the League table. Arsenal are five points clear off them. Both teams are currently challenging for the Premier League title.
