Preston manager denies rumours of Calvin Ramsey’s return to Liverpool

EFL CHAMPIONSHIP

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe denies rumours of newly signed Calvin Ramsey’s return to Liverpool due to knee injury.

The Scottish full-back in currently on loan at the Championship club. After joining Liverpool last summer, he has made only two apperances due to injury.

Ramsey was expected to face Salford in the Carabao cup tie on Tuesday, but Preston boss Ryan Lowe confirmed the injury. He said :-

“Yeah, [he has had] a little setback. That’s why he hasn’t been in the squad.

“I’ve just been told about some rumours of him going back to Liverpool and stuff – that is a load of nonsense.

“I don’t know where you get it from or who says it, but Calvin has got a 12-month loan agreement with us. He’s had a little setback and we’ll make sure we get him fit and ready for when he’s available.

“I know what has happened but I am not going to tell you. When there is news to tell you we will tell you, but for now he’s just had a setback and he is doing what he needs to do.”

His return date from injury is still unclear, however Ramsey can play an important role for the Championship side this season.

Jurgen Klopp backs Ramsey despite his injury concerns

Back in May, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp feels Calvin Ramsey is unlucky due to injury concerns in his debut season at Anfield. The German said after his surgery :-

“He’s a great talent, a real talent, who had the most unlucky start possible.

“But in the end, when he finishes his career at 36, 37 or whatever, if he can say then that the most difficult year of his career was the first or the second, that’s absolutely OK.

“All the others [could be] better because we did the right things in the first two. That’s what we try to do now with him.”
