Prithvi Shaw was called back for the Indian squad for the T20I series in the home season. However, the batsman did not get to play in the eleven. The former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly says that he is ready to play for the Indian team after watching Shaw closely in the Delhi Capitals squad.

Sourav Ganguly on Prithvi Shaw

“I think Shaw is ready to play for India. Whether he gets an opportunity will depend on the slots. I am sure Rohit Sharma and the selectors have a close eye on him. He is a good player and ready,”

The Former Australian Captain and the current coach, Ricky Ponting of the Delhi Franchise also backed the opener to have the best IPL for him personally. His words are

“He’s trained harder and better than I’ve ever seen. I’m pretty sure leading into an IPL, he is in better physical shape than I’ve ever seen him before,”

He further added that

“And I spoke to him the other day about his attitude and the way that he’s working and how things are going. I honestly feel that this is going to be his biggest season ever in the IPL.”

The stats of Shaw in the Indian Premier League is 1588 runs in 68 matches. He had his best season in 2021 by scoring 479 runs at a strike rate of close to 160. His inconsistency of Prithvi is the only weakness he has. It haunts the team so much that it feels like he throws away his wicket.
