Pundit Rehman says Tottenham defender will be targeted against Aston Villa on Sunday

Pundit Zesh Rehman says that Tottenham defender Eric Dier will be on target against Aston Villa. Tottenham will lock horns with Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League. The Villans are flying lately as Emery’s side looks one of the best attacking sides of the league right now. Meanwhile, Tottenham have been landed by injuries after a high-flying start. The North Londoners are currently without their first choice centre-backs. Owing to this, Dier is likely to start at the heart of Spurs’ defence. The Englishman is certainly not at his best since past 12 months.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Zesh Rehman says that £4m defender will be a soft target for Unai Emery due to lack of pace. He said,

“Yeah, we were talking about Dier who can play at the back or in midfield which is an asset, but if you’re the opposition manager you’re looking at who you’re going to press and who can you target, who’s the slower one and who’s the smaller one, where’s the space going to be? I wouldn’t be surprised if they targeted that side of the pitch where Dier was playing. Ollie Watkins plays on the shoulder and Eric Dier is not renowned for being the quickest, so the opposition will do their homework and Ange will have a plan for that as well.”

Tottenham lost their last two games against Chelsea and Wolves. It won’t be a shock if the club fails to pick up a point from this fixture as well. On the other hand, Villa have a great attacking threat with Ollie Watkins as the main man in attack. He will surely be testing Dier with his pace who will have a tough time stopping him.
