RB Leipzig Director Shares Why Liverpool Loanee Was Not Getting Enough Playing Time

Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho is now back from a loan spell with the German side RB Leipzig. RB Leipzig’s Director shares why the Liverpool man was not getting enough play time. Although he was out on a season-long loan, the Reds are unhappy with the lack of game time for the Portuguese.

The ex-Fulham star only managed one start throughout this season so far. Consequently, Liverpool decided to call their star back from the loan. However, there may be a way still for him to loan out to any other club in January.

It is a disappointing news for the fans who were hoping to see their player secure some playing time. Speaking to rbleipzig.com, the German club’s director Rouven Schroder explained why Carvalho was lacking a start.

He told,

We were able to sign a young player with plenty of potential over the summer in Fabio Carvalho. Fabio was able to quickly integrate himself here, but both parties had expected more from his time here – especially Fabio in terms of his playing time.

Due to the quality and competition within our squad at his position, we are unable to guarantee this for him. We held several discussions over the last days and in the end, decided to end his loan early. We would like to thank Fabio for his efforts at RBL and wish him all the best for the future.”

It is an upset for the supporters to see his loan spell ending early. However, clubs like Southampton and Leicester City are still reported to be interested in him. If any of the clubs guarantee playing minutes, Liverpool will be happy to loan out Carvalho till the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see how things develop. With Mo Salah and Wataru Endo bound to leave for international duties, the Reds can think of retaining Carvalho in the squad as well.
