Real Madrid could be making a move for Liverpool star, Alexis Mac Allister, with Trent Alexander-Arnold already linked. The World Cup winning Argentinian has thoroughly impressed in his first season at Anfield.

Real Madrid and Florentino Perez are widely famous for their “Galacticos policy. However, Los Blancos have been doing a really smart and effective business over the years. Signing players for free and targeting talented vulnerable players in the name of glory is working like a charm for the Spanish Champions.

Real Madrid have already been keeping an eye out on Alexander-Arnold with his contract expiring in 2025. With Jurgen Klopp leaving and Arne Slot taking over, Alexander-Arnold may choose not to extend with The Reds. The Los Blancos are considering targeting Alexander-Arnold for a lowered fee amidst the managerial change and the probability of the fullback not penning a new deal.

Now, The Los Blancos are considering to spend big bucks for Mac Allister to join them at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Why Madrid want Mac Allister?

Real Madrid are quite stacked in the midfield department. However, their star Toni Kroos will be retiring at the end of the season, after the Euro 2024. Kroos won 4 UEFA Champions League titles at Madrid. Moreover, the duo has earned comparisons with the legendary Spanish midfield legends, Xavi and Iniesta. Even Luka Modric will be turning 39 this year. The Croatian is also entering the twilight of his career and edging closer to retirement.

Henceforth, Real Madrid will be looking to reinforce the squad for the future. Real Madrid already have Aurelien Tchouameni, Dani Ceballos, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde lined up for the future. Even then, The Los Blancos bought Jude Bellingham from Dortmund.

Moreover, Bellingham has 34 G/A in 39 appearances in his first season. The Englishman is already in Ballon d’or contention. Madrid have also signed Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler this campaign. Guler already has 4 goals to his name.

Guler is still young. Bellingham, Valverde and Tchouameni could be the starting options. Additionally, Camavinga can play as a utility player and Ceballos adds much needed strength to the bench. However, signing Mac Allister from Liverpool would make Madrid’s midfield absolutely lethal!

Despite being pushed to a deeper role from time-to-time, Mac Allister has 12 G/A in 42 appearances for The Reds this season. The Argentinian’s long range shooting ability has been quite evident this season. The 25-year old has had some impressive figures throughout his career. Especially, in the World Cup 2022, Mac Allister managed an average match rating of 7.11 with a pass accuracy of 89%.

With Alexander-Arnold already linked, Madrid could weaken Liverpool further if they get ahold of Mac Allister. Word Cup winner Kylian Mbappe could also be joining The Los Blancos this season.

Will Real Madrid price away another Liverpool star?

Alexis Mac Allister was signed by Liverpool for just £35 million. However, Mac Allister is believed to have a £60 million release clause in his contract. If triggered, Liverpool will definitely be making a profit. But, will The Reds be able to replace the Argentinian?

European elites like Real Madrid or FC Barcelona lure players because of their rich legacy. Jurgen Klopp couldn’t stop Barcelona snatching away Philippe Coutinho from Anfield. Arne Slot might find himself in a similar situation. Especially, if Real Madrid go all out on the 25-year old midfielder.

On the one hand, Mac Allister will find plenty of competition at Madrid. But, he could also establish himself as one of the world’s best at the Bernabeu. Now, it’s more of a matter of whether The Los Blancos really need him in the post Modric-Kroos era. As of now, Real have already reached yet another Champions League Final and clinched LaLiga already.

If Madrid are able to secure Alexander-Arnold and Mac Allister’s signature along with signing Mbappe, there’s no stopping the Los Blancos from asserting their dominance.
