Madrid handout fresh injury news ahead of clash against Liverpool

Real Madrid

Real Madrid faces Liverpool in the Champions League round 16 first-leg match set to happen at Anfield later this month.

Real Madrid have dealt with a fresh injury blow ahead of the Champions League match against Liverpool.

Los Blancos are unbeaten in the last four clashes against Liverpool in the Champions League. Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 to win the record-extending 14th title in last year’s final.

Two teams will first meet at Anfield on February 21 followed by the second leg at Santiago Bernabéu on March 15.

With two teams locking horns again, reports from Spain have claimed that Ferland Mendy is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

As reported a Frenchman suffered a “muscle injury” in his left leg. Reports suggest that the left-back will be sidelined for at least 3months. He picked up the injury in Copa Del Rey’s tie against Athletico Madrid.

Real Madrid’s official website gave more detailed diagnoses of the player’s injury.

Mendy is not the only player to get injured. Lucas Vazquez is also sidelined and expected to miss the first leg in Anfield.

For Liverpool, the injury list looks more gloomy as they will miss the services of Virgil Van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Arthur Melo, and Ibrahima Konate.

Reds are experiencing tough times and only time will tell what’s more to unfold. Klopp’s side will have a huge of facing Real in Champions League and winning against them looks difficult.
