After a lacklustre return to Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku is expected to re-join Inter Milan on a season-long loan. Since joining the Blues for £97.5 million from Inter in August of last year, he has only scored eight Premier League goals. Everton’s Richarlison is an alternative that many of the players have been in favour of, according to The Sun.
Tuchel is not averse to the idea either. Following the departure of director Marina Granovskaia, Tuchel will have more influence over signings this summer. Inter Milan have given Chelsea a £7 million loan fee. The striker scored 64 goals in 95 appearances during his previous stint at Inter. Reports suggest that he was on the “verge of tears” when the move was finalized.
At the same time, Richarlison has himself been contemplating an exit from Everton. He is a fan favourite at the Goodison Park. However, they recently were on the cusp of relegation. A player like Richarlison may want to play his football at a more settled team. Since joining the Toffees from Watford in the summer of 2018, Richarlison has scored 53 goals in 152 games. He was a key factor in keeping Frank Lampard’s team in the Premier League the previous season.
Rivals Want Richarlison Too
Richarlison, a seasoned international, will likely feature in Brazil’s World Cup squad this summer. He was a member of the team that won the 2019 Copa America and the Olympic Gold in Japan last summer. He can be an able replacement up top for Lukaku and can fill in at left-wing as well.
Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur are in the mix for Richarlison too. Antonio Conte admires the player, and would like to bring him to White Hart Lane. It is unlikely that Richarlison remains in Merseyside. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
