According to reports, Manchester City have agreed on a transfer fee for River Plate star striker Julian Alvarez. Sources suggest that the striker has a release clause of £17million and Manchester City are reportedly ready to meet the release clause.

Julian Alvarez has recorded 18 goals in 21 appearances in the Argentinian top-flight last season. The striker is considered one of the most promising youngsters in the world. He has also made five appearances for his national team. Alvarez was also a part of the Argentina squad that lifted the Copa America trophy last season.

The Argentinian striker is a former Real Madrid youth player. He was a part of the Real Madrid academy for two years. After returning to Argentina with River Plate, Alvare made his first-team debut back in 2018. He has recorded 36 goals in 96 appearances for the Argentina outfit so far.

His impressive form in front of goals has seen him linked with major European giants. Alongside Manchester City, clubs including Manchester United, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid are all scouting the striker.

Julian Alvarez talking about his future back in 2020

The striker talking about his future back in 2020 to Radio La Red, said:

“Playing in Europe is most people’s dream because of those leagues’ quality and what it means to be at those clubs,”

“I am taking it easy. Obviously I talk to my agent and my family, but I know I have to stay focused on what I’m doing. Later the time will come, through the work I am doing. On the Playstation, I play with Barcelona or Manchester City.”

Alvarez to be loaned back to River Plate until the summer?

Reports coming out of Argentina suggest that Julian Alvarez is set to be loaned back to River Plate until the summer. Reports also suggest that Manchester City may loan the striker back to River Plate until the end of 2022. The Argentinian outfit are keen to keep hold of the striker until 2022 so that he can feature in the later stages of Copa Libertadores.

Julian has drawn comparison to fellow Argentinian and City’s record goalscorer Sergio Aguero. Just like Aguero, Julian is relatively small, has a low centre of gravity and definitely has the eye for goal. Julian can be the perfect replacement for Aguero at Manchester City.
