Romeo Lavia in exchange for Kalvin Phillips for Leeds United?

Leeds United could reportedly ask Manchester City to include their teenage star Romeo Lavia as part of a deal for Kalvin Phillips who could head to Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 18 year old joined the club in 2020 from RSC Anderlecht. The club rates the player highly and he is also a Belgium U-21 international. In the 2021-22 season, Lavia made a total of 27 apps for the youth side. Also, he made 2 senior apps for the club as well under Pep Guardiola. But The Athletic reports that City are unsure as to whether he’s ready to step up to the first team.

Additionally, the report also mentioned that along with Leeds, Southampton also registered interest in signing the Man City midfielder. But while Man City are reluctant to leave the player leave, they can use him to lure Kalvin Phillips. Man City are the front runners now to sign Phillips but at one point even Aston Villa was in the race as well. The 26 year old also allegedly told Leeds United that he would like to move to the Etihad this summer.

The Elland Road outfit value the England international at £50 million. But that price tag can get low if City can include Lavia in that deal, temporary or permanent. Lavia won the Premier League 2 with Manchester City in the recently concluded campaign. He has 2 years remaining on a contract. Given his talent, if he can’t break into the first time, which is highly unlikely at the moment, he should make a decision about his future for more game time.

Pep Guardiola is strengthing his already elite squad ahead of the next season. To put more light on this topic, they signed Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez as striking options. Now they want to replace Fernandinho who left the club at the end of last season in form of Kalvin Phillips.
