According to Sport, United and Liverpool had contact with Neves’ agent in the last transfer window for a move. However, the midfielder refused a move to United or Liverpool, instead, he held out for a move to Barcelona.

Barcelona see Neves as the long-term replacement for the captain Sergio Busquets whose contract expires in June next year. Wolves value Neves at £50 million which might be a bit too much for Barcelona, given their poor financial situation. However, there is room for negotiations which the club will most definitely carry out.

In total Barcelona spent about €158 in the transfer window which was a lot for them considering that the club is going through a difficult financial period currently. He has performed exceedingly well for Wolves since arriving from Porto two seasons ago. Hence, a move for Neves cannot be ruled out in the next transfer window.
