Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City ends in 2025 and no discussion of an extension has taken place yet. Although there is no decision made about Pep Guardiola’s future, there is an ongoing discussion about who could take over as the Man City manager. Moreover, with the 115 charges Manchester City have to face, there is no guarantee of what could happen.

While speaking about the Man City boss’ future, former Everton chief Keith Wyness said,

“I think he may be ready for a fresh challenge. There’s no doubt that he’s at the top of his game and he’s a superb manager, but everything has its time.”

Wyness further added,

“I think his exit may coincide with the results of these cases. It may just be for football reasons after all.”

Manchester City will surely want the manager to extend his contract, however, the final decision is Pep’s. Despite there being no firm decision about the City manager’s future, reports have stated some of the potential replacements for Guardiola.

Who could be Pep Guardiola’s successor at Manchester City?

There are a few managers who could potentially replace Pep Guardiola after his term ends in 2025. Robert De Zerbi could be a possible option for Manchester City, however, the Brighton manager has attracted other top clubs like Barcelona and Liverpool as well. Additionally, Manchester City have Xabi Alonso on their radar. After leading Bayer Leverkusen to the Europa League semi-finals and breaking the record of being unbeaten for 49 games, Xabi Alonso is gaining interest from big clubs. However, sources state that the manager will want to continue his stay at the BayArena. Another manager who could replace Pep is Zinedine Zidane. The former Real Madrid manager has been out of work since 2021. Thus, this could be a big opportunity for him as well. However, there is no firm decision taken yet.
