Spurs are close to signing Adama

Spurs are pushing closer to signing Adama from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window. Tottenham has been a long admirer of the Spanish winger.

The North London club made an effort to sign the winger last summer. However, they failed to crack a deal under Nuno Espirito Santo’s previous connections.

Adama started his youth at Barcelona B and was later promoted to senior ranks. He joined Wolves in the summer of 2018 for approximately $25m.

Meanwhile, the winger has 120 appearances under his belt and has netted 7 goals. He is a utility player who can play both as a winger and a wing-back.

As a result, the Spurs are looking forward to signing Adama to solve their wing-back situation. Both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty are struggling to adapt to the position. So, Conte has seemingly convinced Traore into accepting the role.

As per Daily Telegraph, The Spurs management backed by Daniel Levy will try to crack a deal with Adama in this transfer window. Adama’s contract expires in the summer of 2023 and the Spaniard is not showing interest to extend the contract.

It is reported that his transfer would cost the Spurs around £18m. However, Wolves might demand a higher amount.

Spurs are also looking at the possibility of using Doherty as part of the deal. It seems interesting if his former club is keen to re-sign the Irish defender.

Wolves manager on Spurs target Adama

Wolves manager Bruno Lage was asked about Adama’s potential departure to Tottenham. He said that he was happy to have Adama on his team. However, if the management decides to part ways with the Spaniard, he wouldn’t have a problem.

“You are giving me something new. I don’t know anything about that, but what I said before I will say again.

The most important thing, especially now, if it’s good for the club and it’s good for the player

The main thing is I’m happy with everyone.

I’m happy with Adama, I’m happy with Daniel (Podence), with Trincao, with Hwang and I’m available to receive players and not to see anyone go. But you never know.”

As it stands, Lage is quite satisfied with the 25-year-old and would like to see him renew his contract.

Other Clubs

European giants like FC Barcelona, Chelsea are also monitoring his situation. However, the Spurs are favorites to bag the Spanish winger.
