LFC legend Steve Nicol is not a big fan of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, as he suggests that Reds won’t win anything, if he starts at the base of midfield.

Speaking on ESPN FC, Nicol claims that Liverpool will face midfield conundrum this season. Already four midfielders have left the club this summer.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is fully aware of the change happening at the centre of the pitch this season. In this transfer window, Liverpool are only monitoring midfielders, as they need like to like replacement for all the departed players.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai has been already brought to the Mersyside this summer. They can be lined up for the likes of Navy Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this season.

However, Liverpool are currently looking for defensive midfielder in this transfer window, after both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left the club to play in the Saudi League.

Romeo Lavia has emerged as a potential replacement for both Champions League winners this summer. However, some of the young guns in the club might get the opportunity in upcoming campaign.

1984 European Cup winner Steve Nicol suggests if Curtin Jones starts in the midfield, they won’t win anything next season. Although, the 21-year-old was in tremendous form at Under-21s European Championship this year.

While discussing about Jones, Nicol said :-

If Liverpool want to be pushing for the Premier League title or the Champions League, any of the big prizes, they need someone who is going to be playing now and who’s going to do the job.

“They can’t wait on a [Romeo] Lavia getting better or hoping that [Curtis] Jones can fill in. That doesn’t get you Premier League titles or Champions Leagues.

“It’s a big problem right now.”
