Jose Enquire, the former Liverpool star, urges the club to sell Curtis Jones in the summer. He thinks this will be beneficial for the club as well as for the player.
Why did the ex-Liverpool star say it?
The 22-year-old midfielder’s contract is valid till 2027. Enquire feels Jones isn’t good for the future of the club.
It’s been a very frustrating season for Liverpool and for Jones too. He has played a bit-part role under Klopp but still hasn’t scored or assisted. This is even more worrying.
Also, he is not an important player for the team as of now. There are many players who are above him in the midfield.
However, even if we forget about the senior players, the teenage duo, Harvey Elliot and Stefan Bajcetic are now ahead of him.
Now the question arises that, if Jones can’t earn minutes in this struggling Liverpool side, then will he earn those consistent starts?
Problems at Anfield might increase
Liverpool are in urgent need of new midfielders. They are also linked with many midfielders.
But if they sell Curtis Jones then another midfielder will leave the club. If the same problem arises the next season, what will they do?
How many midfielders will Liverpool and FSG will bring in the summer transfer window? One, two, or three? How many?
They also have brought in backup players to increase the squad depth. This isn’t just about bringing starters. How deep will Liverpool dig inside their bank?
Perhaps Jones’ age will favor him and Klopp might want to keep him. They have to take this decision very patiently and not make any mistakes.
