Tottenham aiming to hijack Newcastle United’s Lucas Paqueta move.

Newcastle United could reportedly face the competition from Tottenham for the signature of Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta. Lyon is ready to sell the midfielder to maximize profits.

The 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder has impressed the Ligue 1 outfit. Paqueta has since been linked with a move away from Lyon. Newcastle UnitedArsenal, and Tottenham all have shown interest in signing the player. Allegedly, the news is Newcastle were lining up a club-record £50 million bid for the Brazilian international. Although, many sources are claiming Spurs have been closely monitoring the midfielder. The report also adds that Tottenham will consider making an offer this summer.

LYON WANTS MORE MONEY AND THEY WILL GET IT THIS SUMMER

The report adds that Paqueta is open to Leaving Lyon. But the French side still values him at around £68 million, the same fee which Newcastle were quoted in January. Paqueta is also linked with PSG. Lyon can easily accept the highest bid among interested teams this summer. The midfielder also has three years remaining on his Lyon contract. But at the moment, Tottenham and Newcastle look the most interesting sides. The Brazilian international scored 11 goals and registered seven assists in 44 games across all competitions. At the age of 24, Paqueta might think this is the best age to play in the Premier League. Tottenham have more chance than Newcastle as they can offer him Champions League football. Lyon will try every trick in the book to get more money for the midfielder.

The last time Newcastle and Tottenham did business with Lyon was in January. Bruno Guimares moved to Newcastle from Lyon. Lyon signed their former player Ndombele on loan this January. So all the clubs are familiar with each other during negotiations. Although, Newcastle will look at Bruno to convince Lucas to join the club.
