Tottenham vs West Ham: Match Preview

Tottenham face West Ham in a spicy London derby tonight. Both teams have had quite a contrasting start to the season.

Tottenham have made seven additions to their squad, after a fantastic end to last season. They look optimistic under Antonio Conte. Their East London counterparts, however, had a slump at the back end of the season.

They have strengthened significantly as well, but are yet to see results. Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta are some of the most remarkable signings in the Premier League, with the latter possibly making his debut tonight.

Tottenham are unbeaten so far. They have beaten Southampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest, while grabbing a last-minute draw at Stamford Bridge. Their performances have not been entirely convincing, but they have managed to get the job done.

West Ham, on the other hand, have won only once, and scored a single goal in the campaign. They were beaten by Manchester City courtesy of an Erling Halland brace, before losing to Nottingham Forest. They got three points against Aston Villa though after Pablo Fornals’ goal.

Tottenham and West Ham: Injuries

Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a head injury against Nottingham Forest, which is set to keep him out. New signing Yves Bissouma may make his first start for his new club as a result. Lucas Moura remains out with a tendon problem. However, Oliver Skipp and Cristan Romero have started training again.

For West Ham, Ben Johnson is sidelined with a hamstring problem. Craig Dawson is also set to miss out, and will have to wait to make his first appearance of the season. New signing Naif Aguerd is also out, and yet to make an appearance for the Hammers.

Prediction:

Although West Ham had a poor start to the season, derbies can be unpredictable. They will be wanting to make an impression today. Spurs meanwhile, have not been at their best and may be punished in front of a raucous West Ham fanbase. Yet, their quality may shine through which gives them an edge.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 West Ham
