Trent Alexander-Arnold is on the brink to break the EPL record

Trent Alexander-Arnold claimed his tenth Premier League assist of the season and is on the verge to break the EPL record. Meanwhile, with the tenth assist, he has set up more goals than any other player in the Premier League.

Trent began his youth career in Liverpool and went on to earn the senior cap with them in 2016. Since his revelation, he has 148 appearances for the Reds scoring 10 goals for them.

The 23-year-old has 43 assists and holds a record of maximum assists by a defender with 12 in the 2018/19 season.

The move of the England international to provide assists to Mane, Jota, and Firminho has become his trademark. They will get in the free space in the box and Arnold will put his pin-point cross towards them.

However, one of Firmino’s downsides is that he is always too deep and never gives himself the opportunity to attack.

Meanwhile, England manager Gareth Southgate has the tendency to leave Arnold out for England. It looks like he prefers Reece James of Chelsea due to his defensive prowess.

The argument often raised by rival supporters is that Trent is not the best from a defensive point of view. He has worked on this side of his game and is nowhere near as open as he was a couple of years ago.

He is getting better each year and it won’t be surprising if he turns out to be the best English right-back of all time.

What are the chances of Trent Alexander-Arnold breaking the record

The record number of assists in a single Premier League campaign is 20. The record was held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in 2002/03. However, Kevin De Bruyne equaled the record in 2019/20.

As things stand, he is already halfway through with a lot of matches remaining. So, keeping his form in mind, it seems that it is only a matter of time that he breaks the record for most assists in a season.
