Troy Deeney , the former Watford striker , has put forward strong statements about Arsenal. He believes Arsenal are not bottling the league. Deeney has leapt to the defence of Arsenal amid recent claims that they have ‘bottled’ the Premier League title.

What Troy Deeney had to say about Arsenal

Troy Deeney on BBC sports recently said:-

“Nah, it’s not fair at all. I think if you start the season, you’d have said ‘Arsenal are where they are now’, everyone would have laughed at you

“They’ve done unbelievably well
. I think the manager and the team have created an identity over the last 18 months that shows that they’re building and I think. You know, from a personal point of view, I think (Martin) Odegaard has took (sic) them to another level.

“I know (Bukayo) Saka gets the plaudits, I know (Gabriel) Jesus and (Oleksandr) Zinchenko (do too), but for me Odegaard is the one that is leading by example.”

Deeney isn’t a player who is particularly liked at Arsenal. He has once rubbed salt into Arsenal’s wounds following their defeat at Watford. Suggesting they don’t have the “cojones” for the fight.

He in that saga said:-

Whenever I play Arsenal, I’ll go up and think, ‘Let me whack the first one and see who wants it’. “I came on today (Saturday) and jumped with (Per) Mertesacker. I didn’t even have to jump, actually – I nodded it down. The crowd gets up – ‘Yeah, we’ve got somebody who can win it’ – and they all just backed off.”

“I’ve heard Wenger’s already blaming (the decision) as the reason why they lost. I’m not going to be the one to tell Mr Wenger about himself, but there’s a reason why they lost and it wasn’t because of one penalty.

“I’ll have to watch what I say. It’s (having) a bit of cojones, a bit of nuts.”
