UPCA approves for new staidium in Noida,Uttar Pradesh

A new international cricket stadium is set to be constructed in Noida by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). The Noida authority had been planning to build a stadium and UPCA has finally approved the proposal. The layout plan has already been submitted and is currently awaiting approval from the governing body in Noida. Once approved, work on the stadium will commence.

The stadium will be located in Sector 150, along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Although it is situated on the outskirts of the city, transportation is easily accessible with the availability of metro services. Upon completion, the stadium will also be eligible to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

On March 17, 2023, UPCA approved the proposal. It includes not only the construction of a world-class cricket stadium but also the development of a golf course, tennis courts, and other sports facilities in the same area. The new stadium will comply with all ICC rules and regulations, and it may take up to three years to complete the construction.

UPCA statement on approval of proposal

“The consortium of developers from Noida had submitted a proposal willing to develop an international cricket stadium in sector 150. Subsequently, our committee has approved the proposal stating that the facility should be as per the norms of the ICC board specifications.”

“Once developed, Noida will be able to all kinds of international cricket matches. After Kanpur and Lucknow, Varanasi will be the third UP city to have an international stadium. We have just acquired the land for the same. After that, we have approved the Noida project and Ghaziabad may also have one of the land parcel will be made available.” UPCA CEO Ankit Mukherjee

The new stadium will have seating capacity of 40,000people and will be UP’s fourth stadium after Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi. Additionally, its diameter will measure 137.6 meters in accordance with UPCA guidelines.
