‘We will come back strongly’: Harmanpreet after World Cup exit

Harmanpreet

The Indian Women’s team lost against the Mighty Australian side in the Semi Final of the World cup. Even though they had the match in their hands during the chase. Our batters couldn’t withstand the pressure of the big stages. However, Harmanpreet and Jemimah put up a great fight. The fielders did not stand with the bowlers of team India.

Harmanpreet tweeted that

“This is for all our fans across the globe who have supported us throughout this World Cup . I thank you for believing in our journey. I know as a cricket fan it’s sad to see your team loose (sic). All I can say is that we will come back strongly and put a great show out there,”

The captain played a knock of 52 off 34 deliveries. The openers failed terribly in the knockouts. The skipper builds a partnership with star player Jemimah in the middle overs. Unfortunately, Harmanpreet got run out which led India to collapse. If any one of the two stayed till the end, India would have qualified for the finals.

Harmanpreet in the post-match presentation said that

“Can’t be unluckier than this, to get that momentum back when me and Jemi (Jemimah Rodrigues) were batting. And to lose after that, we didn’t expect this today. The way I got runout, can’t be unluckier than that.Putting the effort was important and we were happy to go to the last ball. We wanted to fight till the last ball. Today we wanted to chase too, so that was fine when they chose to bat. Even after losing first two wickets, we knew we had a good batting line-up,”

She further added that

“I don’t want my country to see my crying, hence I am wearing these glasses, I promise, we will improve and wont let out nation down like this again,”
