West Ham miss out on transfer target

West Ham United are expected to have a big summer transfer window ahead of them. The London club recently announced the sacking of their manager David Moyes. Even though Moyes gave the club its first silverware in recent years, he is still facing criticism. The manager is criticized for his slow style of play added with poor performances from the players. West Ham United lost to Manchester City on the last day of the Premier League and it is clear now that changes are necessary. There were some signs of hope from players like Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta.

The season has not started and the club already got its first bad news. West Ham have missed out on one of their transfer targets. The next alternate for the London club will be to look for cheaper options in England.

West Ham United will also hope to keep their core players for the next season. According to new Profit and Sustainability rules of Premier League, the club will also need to sell some players before making new signings. After David Moyes was sacked the club announced the signing of Julen Lopetegui.

The former Real Madrid coach is no stranger when it comes to managing big clubs under tough situations. Lopetegui also has experience with English clubs after he saved Wolves from relegation last season. In his six months stint at Wolves, Lopetegui managed to pull a miracle. However he ended up leaving the club after a fall out with the management.

The manager did not get the signings he demanded from the club due to financial situation of the club. The club also ended up selling their core players like Adama Traore, Conor Coady, and Ruben Neves last season.

West Ham miss out on young Brazilian talent

According to Vene Casagrande, Brazilian club Palmeiras have told West Ham United’s technical director Tim Steidten that midfielder Luis Guilherme is not for sale. This was a huge blow amid the speculations of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta leaving the club. Manchester City and Arsenal are interested in the midfielder and can snatch him away from the club.

Brentford have also been reported to be tracking the progress of the 18 year old Brazil midfielder, but it appears the Sao Paulo club won’t be listening to bids from any club. This lack of success will surely hurt Julen Lopetegui due to lack of reinforcements in the squad for next season. West Ham’s technical director Steidten has only been in Brazil for a matter of hours to look for options to improve the squad. However according to how the latest developments suggest his South American scout hunt is not going according to plan.

Last week, another West Ham United target Fabricio Bruno’s signing appeared to be certain. However there is no confirmation from the player or the club. It is reported that the talks have stalled over wage demands for the Brazilian international and Steidten is yet to resolve that issue. The pursuit of Corinthians winger Wesley is also going on by the London club. However due to interests from other clubs West Ham United may find it difficult to sign the player without any interference from other clubs. New West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui is looking for a lot of areas in the squad to improve upon. This by default links them with a lot of targets this summer.

However West Ham may be forced to look closer to home for new signings. As it looks Steidten can return empty-handed from South America.
