West Ham United transfer roundup

With the January transfer window set to close in just under a weeks time. West Ham United faithful seem to be quite frustrated by the lack of business done by the London based club in January. Many supporters have even doubted the owner’s ambitions for the club due to the lack of activity in the January window.

West Ham are currently 5th in the Premier League table and are competing to finish in the top four at the end of the season. While they are still in the FA Cup and have also made the last 16 of the Europa League. With the club still in a very good position to end the season on a high. The frustration from the fans regarding no new reinforcement for the side seems justifiable.

Tha hammers’ manager David Moyes in a recent interview speaking about transfers and the January transfer window, said:

“We have been trying for a couple of years to add a striker to the group. But we have not been able to. We have had quite a few offers for players at different times that have not been accepted or we could not get or [they] have been too expensive,”

“I think that we will try hard to make them [signings] but I cannot say one way or the other, we will see. We will work hard to add to what we have got but I can’t give any guarantees that will happen.”

West Ham still interested in Marseille’s Duje Ćaleta-Car?

Centre-half Angelo Ogbonna is still on the sidelines for West Ham. So it is quite obvious to see the club’s interest in Duje Caleta-Car. The hammers were also linked with the Marseille centre-half in the summer but could not get the deal over the line.

The hammers are interested in a loan deal with an option to buy until the summer. While the French club are asking for a transfer fee of around £15 million and no loan deal. The deal looks quite complicated.

Is Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa a transfer target for West Ham?

Michail Antonio is still the only striker option at the club. Even Antonio admitted in a recent interview that he could do with some help upfront. The fans are quite fearful of the striker situation at the club, especially with Antonio’s injury record.

Sky Sports have reported that West Ham have held talks with Brazilain outfit Flamengo for striker Gabriel Barbosa. But with the January transfer window over in just a few days. It still remains to be seen if West Ham can get the deal over the line or not.
