Royal Challengers Banglore announced the head coach and support staff list for the inaugural season of WPL. Ben Sawyer is their head for the first season. Malolan Rangarajan is going to be their assisant coach in the 2023 season. Vanitha VR and RX Murali will take the role of fielding coach and batting coach respectively.
Hesson’s words on RCB’s Women’s team Coach
“He has been involved in Women’s cricket for over 20 years, knows the women’s game inside out, knows the players very well. He has been thoroughly involved in our preparations leading up to the auction as well. Really delighted to get Ben, sort of spoke to him prior to knowing we were going to get a team. Just sussing out potentially whether he would be interested, and he was really excited too. He has been involved in setting up Sydney Sixers from the start of the Big Bash(WBBL), setting the franchise up, and he did the same with The Hundred. So hugely experienced.”
Hesson on RX Murali’s role in WPL
“RX Murali, who is also Karnataka based, well sought-after as a power-hitting coach from a batting perspective, and also a technically batting coach who has worked with a lot of women, works with a lot of the current Indian men’s players as well. So, highly sought-after.”
