After Romeo Lavia, Liverpool will go for a new centre-back this summer

Liverpool

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool will go for new centre-back after signing Southampton midfelder Romeo Lavia this summer.

Lavia looks to be close to agreeing a deal to join Liverpool this summer. But as per current reports, Reds are in urgent need of a new central defender who can form a formidable partnership with Dutch international Virgil van Dijk.

Both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have not been upto the mark in last few seasons at Anfield. However, Ibrahima Konate have been quite regular last term, but he was quite injury-prone.

Last season was something Liverpool try to forget and start a new season on a fresh note. Reds have already bought the likes Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Liepzig.

While speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool are going to target a new centre-back after bring in Lavia this summer. He said :-

“Yes, that remains a concrete possibility so I would keep the idea of getting a new centre-back. But probably not now because now the focus is on a new midfielder, Romeo Lavia, and we know Liverpool like to go step by step on the market, but a new centre-back could be a possibility. I mentioned earlier Levi Colwill because he’s a player they consider to be a top talent, a top player, but Chelsea consider him untouchable.

“If they find the right player I think they can sign a new centre-back this summer. They want the right player or nothing, but at the moment, I can confirm Liverpool are discussing a new centre-back yes.”

There are lots options available in the transfer market. Hence, we have shortlisted five new centre-back Liverpool can sign this summer.
