Arsenal are going to face a major complication if they want to sign Lucas Paqueta this summer. The Gunners are trying to get the playmaker this summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add more quality to his attacking options. Arsenal have been busy in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have secured the deals for Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Viera, Matt Turner, and Marquinhos. However, Mikel Arteta wants to add more attacking quality to the squad. Technical director Edu Gaspar is also busy finding him the best deals for the players he wants. It looks like the name Lucas Paqueta is going to be on the list.

The Gunners are heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian star. Lyon’s head of recruitment has also admitted the French side will need to trim the squad. This comment opens the door for Arsenal to negotiate his transfer. However, the club still needs to clear a major obstacle in their pursuit of Paqueta. The complications are by Lyon’s incoming majority owner John Textor.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the new incoming majority owner is keen to retain the services of Lucas Paqueta. He said, “What complicates that challenge, even more, is that Jean-Michel Aulas may be saying that he’s willing to sell, but John Textor is the American incoming majority owner at Lyon doesn’t yet have a say but wants him to stay beyond the window to challenge the likes of PSG.

However, the playmaker is open to a new challenge. He is also reportedly excited to join a Premier League team. This is the only factor that might ease the deal for Arsenal. Newcastle United are also linked with the Brazil international. Although, they are currently concentrating on deals for forwards and right-wingers. However, the magpies continue to monitor his situation.

Another problem is that Paqueta is under contract till 2025. It looks like it will take a significant fee to bring him to the Emirates. However, Arsenal are yet to register a bid. Lyon are reportedly expecting a fee of around 50 million for the Brazilian playmaker.
