Arsenal defender William Saliba has said that he has played poorly in the last month. Hence, this clearly shows that he has set a higher performance bar for himself.

The defender played well in the 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest. However, the defender has said that he needs to develop with the team more this season.

THE RISE OF WILLIAM SALIBA AT ARSENAL

Arsenal defender William Saliba has said that he has not played top-level football in the last month. However, every Gunners fans feels that he was one of the best players against Nottingham Forest. Hence, this clearly shows that the defender has a high ceiling of development. The defender is currently the first name on the team sheet under Mikel Arteta this season.

William Saliba also said,

“Yes for sure, since three or four weeks I’m not good. He also added, “I work every day in training to be more consistent. I’m a new player but if I want to become a great defender, I have to work a lot and be more consistent.”

Hence, it clearly shows that the defender wants to be successful under Arteta for Arsenal.

MIKEL ARTETA MUST KEEP AN EYE ON THE LOANED-OUT PLAYERS

The success of William Saliba also clearly indicates that the loan system of the club is working out. Arsenal have also reaped the rewards recently with Reiss Nelson. Reiss Nelson was on loan at Feyenoord. However, this season Arteta refused to loan him out. This was because he was brilliant in training. Hence, he came on instead of Bukayo Saka. Saka suffered an injury against Nottingham Forest. Therefore, the winger came on.

Nelson did not disappoint the trust of Mikel Arteta. He ended up scoring a brace and provided an assist in the game. Hence, his displays helped the Gunners stay at the top of the Premier League table. Therefore, this clearly shows that Arsenal are finding the perfect clubs for the younger players to develop. A number of players like Charlie Patino, Nuno Tavares, and Auston Trusty will also be considered for the first-team squad next season after the end of their loan.

Arsenal clearly have a number of players that will be ready to play under Mikel Arteta after their loan spell. They will also try to drive inspiration from the success stories of Saliba and Reiss Nelson. Mikel Arteta will also hope that these players help him increase the transfer budget for the next season.
