Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to sign a new striker in the January transfer window. This is because their star Gabriel Jesus is out with a major knee injury for 3 months.

Hence, the Brazilian is out of the team for the majority of the season. Therefore, the Gunners have reportedly added four potential forward options to their transfer list.

THE TRANSFER PLANS FOR ARSENAL IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

According to reports, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to sign a midfielder and right winger as their priority options. Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz and Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk are the targets for their respective positions. However, it looks like all the pre-made plans are going to change for Mikel Arteta. This is because the Spanish manager will now have to focus on signing a first-team striker that can help continue their quest for the Premier League title and Europa League.

They will have to sign a new striker because of their star striker Gabriel Jesus. According to the club statement, the Brazilian has suffered a major injury problem. Hence, he had successful surgery in recent days. However, the report claims that healing of the injury will take 3 to 4 months for him to recover. Therefore, Arsenal will have now changed their plans for the January transfer window. It looks like they have already changed their plans after the latest update on the injury of Gabriel Jesus.

THE GUNNERS HAVE MADE A SHORTLIST OF TRANSFER TARGETS FOR THE STRIKER POSITION

According to reports, Arsenal have added four strikers to their shortlist for the January transfer window. The first one PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo. However, currently Manchester United are leading the race. Although, the Gunners remain interested in the forward. The next option is Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic . He rejected the Premier League giants before moving to the Italian giants. However, the financial issues with Juventus mean that they are ready to accept the right bid for their Serbian striker.

Although, the next option is going to be above the budget for the club. It is AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham. The England striker has made a brilliant start to his career in Italy. Hence, Mikel Arteta is following him since the last season. Although, Italian giants are set to demand 80 million for their star striker. Jose Mourinho considers him as an untouchable player for potential transfer. The next one is Lille striker Jonathan David. He is one of the strikers that might come in their budget. Hence, Arsenal will surely keep an eye on his situation.

Hence, it looks like Eddie Nketiah will have another talented striker to fight for his start. Arsenal will hope that Gabriel Jesus also recovers within the expected time or ahead of schedule. This is because Mikel Arteta depends on the Brazilian striker for the link-up play and for bringing other attacking players into play. Hence, any manager including Arteta would love such a selfless player on the team.
