Colchester United have confirmed that they have signed Tyreik Wright from Aston Villa till the end of the season. The 20-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Salford City. He returned to Villa in January after his loan spell at the League Two side. However, he will depart to the tier 4 side to complete his season.

Wright has featured for Ireland in the U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-21 levels. He has featured for Salford City 18 times and has scored once for the Ammies. He also featured in a 2-0 win of Salford City against Colchester United earlier this season. However, Colchester United are in 22nd place in League Two. Moreover, they have an opportunity to go 20th with a win in their next match.

Many Aston Villa youngsters like Kaine Kesler, Arjan Raikhy, Louie Barry, Jaden Philiogene-Bidace, Cameron Archer, Caleb Chukwuemeka, and Aaron Ramsey have switched their clubs on loan this month. Tyreik Wright joins this list of youngsters at Aston Villa and becomes a part of the Youth development structure at Villa.

Tyreik Wright plays as a right-winger and aims to strengthen the Colchester United attack. They are placed amongst the last three clubs in League Two and have scored just 23 goals in the 26 matches they have played in League Two. He featured in Salford’s exit from the FA Cup against Chesterfield as they defeated Salford City 2-0 in the 2nd round of the competition.

What can Tyreik Wright provide Colchester United?

Colchester United have only scored 23 goals this season i.e. the fourth least number of goals a club has scored this season in League Two. They have to improve their attack which might also help them improve their goal difference. Their defensive record is also not the best but few other clubs also have a similar or worse number of goals conceded.

He will also provide a very important depth to the Colchester side. The clubs at the top usually have a very good depth in the squad. However, Colchester are 22nd in the league which suggests that their quality of depth is not up to the mark. Moreover, they will also help the Irish internationally to get some more experience and improve as a player.

Wright is very good at taking set-pieces and can contribute to the set-piece routines of Colchester United. He also likes to test the goalkeeper from distance. Moreover, Wright also delivers good crosses for the strikers. In addition, he also sees the runs of his teammates and does not shy away from attempting a long ball.

Tyreik Wright has the potential to be the talisman of his international side. Steven Gerrard encourages his young players to go out on loan to get the necessary experience. Currently, Villa have done great business in the market and have quite a few players on loan. If Tyreik Wright succeeds at Colchester then he will almost be like a new signing for Villa in the future.
