Aston Villa: Morgan Sanson to leave?

Aston Villa

According to reports, Aston Villa will allow Morgan Sanson to leave at end of the season.

Morgan Sanson had a difficult start to his life at Villa Park in his first full campaign. Sanson has made just 3 starts in all competitions for Aston Villa this season. Dean Smith had labeled Sanson as “Frustrating” due to an injury issue that kept him out last year. Pundit Kevin Philips believed that the midfielder stormed off this season against Newcastle after a poor performance. The Frenchman also reacted angrily after not coming on against Arsenal.

Steven Gerrard wants to offload deadwood in the summer and Sanson is one among the many. Villa Executives will break the news to Sanson in the coming weeks and allow him to find a new club. Steven Gerrard is planning a major transfer window in the summer.

The Right Decision?

Sanson never clicked at Aston Villa and could never bring out his form. Due to this, Gerrard is looking to sell Sanson and replace him in the transfer window for the coming 2022/23 season. Sanson has failed to make a name for himself at Villa Park and has consequently failed to find a place in the starting eleven under 2 different managers.

Sanson’s story gets even worse when Steven Gerrard changed the Aston Villa formation to a 4-3-1-2 which is the formation that suits Sanson. This was the nail in the coffin as Sanson couldn’t blossom in a favorable environment.

Sanson has just made 20 appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions this year. He is currently under contract till 2025. The large contract might help Villa to get a considerable amount for Sanson. He was bought last year for a price of 14.22m from Marseille.
