Here we have with us the Aston Villa player ratings as they hold Everton for 1-0 victory away from home. Everton are now in more trouble and very close to entering the relegation battle. The new manager’s first match did not turn out as planned and the Toffees suffered a defeat at home.

On the other hand, Aston Villa are performing well under Steven Gerrard and have secured yet under win. Villa had 3 shots on target whereas Everton had just one shot on target. Aston Villa have moved up to the 11th position in the Premier League and Everton still sits in the 16th position with just a 3 point lead.

Lucas Digne came back to haunt Everton as his corner to the near post was flicked into the far corner by Emiliano Buendia just before half-time. It looked like the scorers would be level after half-time but a great corner from Digne changed the half-time talk of both the teams.

Everton also had a fair amount of chances to get on the scoresheet but failed to capitalize on them. Aston Villa did incredible work to hold Everton in the last 15 minutes. The Toffees had no other way to break through the Villa defense. As a result, Everton found themselves on the losing side and will have a lot to analyze after the game.

Aston Villa player ratings vs Everton

Emiliano Martinez – 6/10

Was not tested much by Everton but got booked later on for wasting time.

Matty Cash – 7/10

Put on a shift today performing on both ends of the pitch. Was very aggressive throughout the game as he should be.

Ezri Konsa – 7/10

Dominating performance from him. Distributed well to the Villa frontline from time to time to accelerate the attack.

Tyrone Mings – 7/10

Suffered an early knock but recovered to have a great game later. Made crucial blocks and interceptions to win the game for Villa.

Lucas Digne – 7/10

Played under pressure where he returned to his former club very soon after his departure. However, he did a good job to set up the goal and defending without any mistakes.

John McGinn – 7/10

Provided energy wherever he went and made some tackles. The only player who was willing to move forward even in the second half.

Douglas Luiz – 7/10

Started the game well but later had to soak more pressure. However, he did well to deal with the pressure and come out of it.

Jacob Ramsey – 6/10

Did not influence the game as much as he is doing as of late. Nevertheless, he still had a decent game and had a different role to play.

Emiliano Buendia – 7/10

Magnificent header to score the goal just before half-time. He seems to have found the form which many Villa fans expected him to have after his signing.

Ollie Watkins – 6/10

Constantly troubled the Everton backline with his movement off and on the ball. However, his decision-making and finishing in the final third could have been better.

Philippe Coutinho – 5/10

Failed to pick up where he left. Had very few moments of magic in the game but also made a few errors.

Came on to see through the remaining game and did well to be disciplined.

Danny Ings – 5/10

Did not get much involved in the game to have an impact.
