Aston Villa forward Bertrand Traore is set to join Istanbul side Başakşehir on a loan till the end of the season. According to the report by Foot Mercato, the deal is almost complete. Traore will join the Turkish side ‘in all likelihood”. The report also states that this move will happen to revive his career after a disappointing second season with Villa.
Traore joined Aston Villa for a fee of £17million from Ligue 1 club Lyon. Traore started his professional career with Chelsea in the 2015-16 season. However, a mixed performance in the Chelsea shirt led to him being loaned out on a move to Ajax. In 2017 Traore joined Lyon on a €10 million deal. Following another mixed performance, Traore joined Aston Villa in 2020. Now, after a brilliant first season at Villa Park, Traore has failed to impress Gerrard in his second season.
Sanson also to exit Aston Villa
Morgan Sanson is also set to exit the club this season, Just Like Traore, he was also excluded from the squad that faced Crystal Palace on the opening day of the league. However, unlike Traore, the club is putting its faith in Sanson to pull through. Manager Steven Gerrard insists that the player is training well and is pushing for involvement in the squad.
Just like Traore, Sanson wants to play football regularly and is looking for a move away. Besiktas have shown an interest in signing the player but Villa are still searching for other options. Steven Gerrard confirms that outgoings are likely in the last few days of the league. Inthe pre match conference, Steven Gerrard soke up about Sanson’s situation:
“Morgan has been very professional, he’s been calm, he’s been training well but, at the same time, he’s frustrated with his game time. I respect that, I understand that so, if something lands for Morgan that he wants to pursue, we won’t stand in his way. At the same time, he’s training well and is pushing to be back in the frame.”
