Aston Villa has submitted a proposal for the midfielder sometime in the last 48 hours.

According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa has submitted an official bid for Kalvin Phillips Kalvin Phillips has been a player for Leeds United since his boyhood days. He rose through the ranks of the youth academy and into the first team. Now, he is a highly rated player and a constant and consistent player for Jesse Marsch’s starting eleven.

The midfielder has two years left on his contract. Despite this, the midfielder has been eyeing an exit out of Elland Road for some time. This decision is not set to change now that the club has avoided relegation.

There has been a lot of interest from multiple top clubs for the midfielder. Particularly, from Manchester United and Manchester City. Although, now other clubs have joined the race too.

Villa joins in the race to sign the midfielder

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa and West Ham have both submitted bids for the midfielder. But, it seems that they are about to miss out on the services of the player, thanks to Pep Guardiola.

According to the report, a recruitment source has told the website that Kalvin Phillips is ‘expected to complete’ a £50m move to Manchester City. Also, his heart remains set on joining the English champions.

After signing talents such as Philippe Coutinho and Diego Carlos, Villa is right to assume that they can attract some top talents to take part in Gerrard’s team-building process. But, not in this case as City is too big of an opportunity for Phillips to turn down.

The 23-year-old has been described as a “rock” in the midfield by Italian legend, Andrea Pirlo. Aston Villa has had a long-term interest in Kalvin Phillips with talks being held as far back as 2019. However, if he rejected a move to Villa back then, it is safe to assume that he wont accept one now when he has got City and Guardiola knocking on his door.
