Aston Villa are contemplating a new deal for their talented midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. According to multiple reports, the Villans are in advanced talks with the 19-year-old over a new deal. Iroegbunam joined Aston Villa last summer from West Brom’s academy and plays for the Villans’ Under-23 side. Tim Iroegbunam has even made his debut for Aston Villa’s senior side. As he has immensely impressed the U-23s, the club now considers him as one of their future stars. And as a result, Villa is now trying everything possible to tie him down to a new deal.

Iroegbunam is currently shining with the Aston Villa U-23 side in the premier league 2. His decision to switch West Brom for Aston Villa is reaping positive results as Iroegbunam has already played an impressive 19 games for the Villans’ U-23s. The teenager has even displayed great versatility by playing at different positions in the midfield.

Steven Gerrard has highly rated Iroegbunam and even-handed the teenager his Aston Villa debut. Meanwhile, Aston Villa are also ready to reward the teenager by offering him a new contract. Moreover, Gerrard sees the 19-year-old Iroegbunam as a crucial part of the club’s future. Though Iroegbunam has made only one appearance for the first team so far, his progress with the club’s U-23s has been key to Villa offering him a new contract. His current deal with the Villans expires by 2024, but the club wants to avoid any risks by extending it now itself. The new offer will be a long-term and improved one.

Iroegbunam to continue his progress with Aston Villa

Iroegbunam has found himself more than happy at Aston Villa and is ready to open the new deal. The teenager’s determination to join Villa was evident last year when he rejected a new contract from West Brom. Iroegbunam has already made the match-day squad of the Villans 13 times this season. Steven Gerrard then finally handed Iroegbunam his deserved debut against Brighton last month.

Even though he played just four minutes on his debut, Iroegbunam could see more game time in the coming weeks. Steven Gerrard has both Marvelous Nakamba and Douglas Luiz out with injuries, and Iroegbunam could be looked upon by the manager to fill in. Apart from being in the match-day squads, Iroegbunam has also regularly trained with the Aston Villa first-team. As per many reports, he is showing all the signs to convince Gerrard and could be rewarded with regular minutes from next season.

Villa have an abundance of young talent in their squad right now, all impressive in their roles. 20-year-old Jacob Ramsey was also tied down to a new long-term contract after he impressed in the premier league. Jacob’s brother Aaron Ramsey, who is currently on loan at Cheltenham was also handed a new contract.

Aston Villa are certainly making a statement here by locking down their young prospects to new long-term deals. The Villans know many will come calling for their youngsters but they are ensuring too that their future stars remain with the club. Gerrard is building something great at the club and knows he will be needing young players like Ramsey brothers, Chukwuemeka, and Tim Iroegbunam to build the foundation of Aston Villa which seriously competes for the titles.
