Aston Villa to put forward a bid worth £30M for Porto’s Otavio

Aston Villa are to table an offer worth £30million to sign Porto winger Otavio amidst interest from Premier League rivals Leeds and Liverpool.

Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol has confirmed that Aston Villa are about to make an offer worth £30 million to sign Porto midfielder Otavio. This report comes amidst interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Leeds.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo has also confirmed that Leeds have made an offer worth  € 30 million. Leeds are on the hunt for a Raphinha replacement. And Otavio has been identified as a suitable player for this purpose.

Aston Villa have offered a bid of € 30 million-plus € 5 million in bonuses for Otavio. However, this offer will still not be enough. This stance is said to be the result of the multiple high-profile transfers carried out by Porto. The transfer of Fabio Viera and Vitinha has placed Porto in a strong negotiating position.

Otavio’s buyout clause currently stands at €40million until July 15 but will then rise to €60million. Aston Villa are the ‘latest interest’ for the midfielder.

Villa’s quest for European football.

Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard are not keeping any secrets about their plans of pushing for places higher up in the Premier League. They have signed some great players who will help them in their quest for European football immensely.

Aston Villa signed Coutinho and Lucas Digne in January. To top it off they have also signed Diego Carlos, Robin Olsen, and Boubacar Kamara. This has given Steven Gerrard plenty of options all over the park. However, Gerrard is on the lookout for more. This is evident from the rumors of their chase for Otavio.

Otavio has had a good season for Porto. He scored 3 goals and recorded 13 assists for the club in the club’s quest for the Primera Liga. He has made over 200 appearances for Porto and has won three league titles with them. And this summer, he is on the lookout for a move away from Porto. The versatile midfielder is attracting interest from a lot of Premier League clubs including Villa and Leeds.

Villa have the cash and the ambition. The chance to work under Gerrard, one of the greatest midfielders of all time, is bound to be attractive for Otavio.
