Barcelona will reportedly try to sign Spanish defender Inigo Martinez on a free transfer next season. The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer of 2023 at Athletic Club.
The Catalans have reportedly made him the top target for the next summer transfer window. He is also going to replace aging Gerard Pique in the starting line-up.

According to reports, the club were going to put in a bid to sign Martinez. However, the La Liga giants managed to be successful in their pursuit for Jules Kounde. The player was also open to the move. The report also claimed that he had agreed to personal terms with Barcelona. Although, it seems for the center-back is currently out of question this summer window.
Another thing is they have also signed Andreas Christensen. So, currently, the club are well stacked in the center-back position. Xavi has also reportedly decided to also focus on other targets. The report also adds that Inigo Martinez is ready to wait until next season to sign for Barca on a free transfer. It looks like Barcelona are still very much interested in the defender.
