Bernardo Silva tells agent to secure Barcelona move.

Bernardo Silva has reportedly instructed his agent Jorge Mendes to negotiate a move to Barcelona. The Portuguese international wants to leave Manchester City this summer transfer window.

Manchester City are open to letting him leave. However, they would like to sell him on their own terms. The player also wanted to leave the club last summer.

The 27-year-old has been a vital player for Manchester City. He arrived at Manchester City from Monaco in July 2017. Bernardo still has three years left on his contract. He was again a vital player for Pep Guardiola last season. The attacker scored 13 goals and registered seven assists in 50 appearances last season.

However, the Portuguese international is believed to be unsettled in England. Bernardo reportedly wants to move closer to his family in Portugal. The Catalan giants are huge admirers of the Portuguese. Although, they could struggle to sign him due to their financial issues. Manchester City values him in the region of  £80m. However, the sale of Frenkie De Jong to Manchester United could help them afford the attacker.

Pep Guardiola has also confirmed that Silva wants to leave. “Bernardo Silva wants to leave. There are two or three players who want to go. When they bring some offer and they want to leave, we are open to discuss… but it depends on them,”. Pep Guardiola told the reporters. However, he has said the players need to bring some offers to the table. He said only then he would be open to discussing their future.

However, he says, he expects Bernardo Silva to continue at the club. Although, he says he does not like to keep players unhappy. A move for the Portuguese could be complicated for the Citizens. They have allowed both Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to leave the club. Also at Barcelona, the club is currently prioritizing the signing of Raphinha and Robert Lewandoski.

Bernardo Silva has made 249 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions since his arrival. He has scored 48 goals and provided 50 assists in the process. The playmaker has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and four League Cup crowns during a highly successful period in Manchester.
