Cenk Tosun wants to leave Everton in spite of Frank Lampard as the new manager

Everton

According to Sabah, Cenk Tosun wants to leave Everton despite the new managerial appointment of Frank Lampard at the club. A player usually gets a fresh start after a new manager comes in and is hopeful of impressing the new manager. However, that is not the case with the Turkish international as he wants to leave the Merseyside club in search of a new European club.

Tosun earned £60,000 a week at Everton but now wants a way out of the club. He also wants the club to pay him €1 million (£832,000) since he still has some time left in the contract. Tosun has just scored 11 goals for Everton in 60 appearances since he signed in 2018. Then Everton manager Sam Allardyce signed the Turkish forward by paying £27 million to Besiktas.

The 30-year-old must have thought that Lampard is a manager who favors the young and his time at the club would get wasted. However, that would not be the case at least until the end of the season. He can provide the much-needed depth to Lampard and can help the youngsters with his experience.

He has barely played 10 minutes of football this season but that can change soon if the new manager sees some potential in him. If he does fit a profile that Lampard needs then he just might revive his career. However, neither he nor Lampard has much time with Tosun as he is aged 30 now with very few years to play in his career.

Why Everton should keep Cenk Tosun at least till the end of the season?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has not been in the best form at Everton this season and has missed several matches due to injuries. The only backup option Lampard has now is is Solomon Rondon who is also not a guaranteed first-team striker. Richarlison is also another player but managers prefer to play him on the flanks rather than as a center-forward.

Tosun was a very successful striker at Besiktas and had a good goalscoring record. He scored 67 goals in 146 appearances for the Turkish side and looked like a promising striker when he joined Everton. However, that has not been the case and struggled to keep up with the competition he faced at the club.

Nevertheless, if he somehow finds his form back then he will almost be like a new signing for the club. He is demanding the remaining salary for the rest of the contract but he will be jobless at that time. Instead, it will be better for him and Everton both if he gets the salary and also works to improve and make himself available in the market before summer.

It would be a better option for both the club and Cenk Tosun to stay together till summer when he will be ready to leave. It would also be difficult for him to find a European club now at this point in time. However, if he gets on the pitch more regularly and scores a few goals then it is possible for a European club to come searching for the Turkish international.
