Chelse have been in the market for a new defensive midfielder. Meanwhile, it’s no secret that they have held an interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. But Declan Rice has attracted interest from many clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City. So Chelsea have shifted their interest to Monaco midfielder Tchouameni.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea are ready to accelerate their interest in Aurelien Tchouameni. Chelsea were willing to make a move for him this summer but decided to wait for another season as he lacked experience. Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and France national team manager Didier Deschamps have spoken highly of the midfielder. Instead of signing Tchouameni Chelsea signed Saul from Atletico Madrid on loan with an option to buy.

What does Tchouameni bring at Chelsea?

Tchouameni is comfortable playing as a No.6 or a No.8. He is a monster when it comes to showing his defensive prowess. Similar to Kante Tchouaméni is superior at sitting deep and breaking up play. When Kante’s injury issues start showing up Tchouameni could step up in the midfield for The Blues.

Chelsea want to sign a defensive midfielder desperately. Moreover, Jorginho has also been linked with a move away from Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to make a ‘very attractive proposal’ for the Tchouameni. Tchouameni has had 55 appearances for the club. He made his France debut in September against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Italian giants Juventus also want to sign Tchouameni. Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has expressed his desire to leave the club. So we could see Chelsea and Juventus battling it out for the signature of the French midfielder. Massimiliano Allegri has been impressed with Aurelien Tchouameni’s performances at Monaco. Moreover, he fits Juventus’ wage bills. It’ll be interesting to see where Tchouameni ends up next summer.
