Chelsea star went to an additional training session alone inspite of an off day

Despite the club having a day off on Monday, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella reportedly completed additional training alone. According to journalist Nathan Gissing, such is the case.

Due to illness, Cucurella was unable to participate in the match against the Cherries. However, it appears that Cucurella has rapidly recovered and is working harder than ever to make sure he’s ready to play for Chelsea when he does.

“Marc Cucurella trained alone on Monday with a fitness coach, despite it being the team’s day off.”

Nathan Gissing further wrote

“He missed the draw against Bournemouth with a fever, said Pochettino.”

Given that Cucurella cost Chelsea £60 million last year, it is amazing that he hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League football so far this season.

However, the full-back making £175,000 per week needs a lot of respect to maintain his professionalism. He is lower on Mauricio Pochettino’s priority list because he has obviously not lived up to the hype so far while wearing Chelsea colours. Levi Colwill, a versatile defender, is now the front-runner for the left-back position. Ben Chilwell is still another choice.

Despite having previously appeared to be a high-profile prospect while playing for his old club Brighton, the Spaniard had a difficult season for Chelsea last year.

According to a recent report in Sport, Cucurella may decide to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window. Additionally, they described the player working extra hours behind the scenes to try to win back the team’s favour. Stranger things have happened, so it’s possible that Cucurella can make a U-turn and gain Chelsea’s favour. He would enter the starting XI right now if he can somehow regain his Brighton form.
