Chelsea will field a 17-year-old player against AFC Wimbledon tonight.

Chelsea

When Chelsea plays AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup tonight, 17-year-old, Michael Golding will sit on the bench for the Blues. Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard claims such to be the case.

The 17-year-old might be in for a night he won’t forget anytime soon. The teenager will be sitting on the bench at Stamford Bridge tonight along with a number of other young players. Golding is “very highly regarded” by those at Chelsea, according to Nizaar Kinsella.

The midfielder, who was born in Kingston, has already earned 11 caps for the England Under-17 team and scored three goals during those matches. Previously, he excelled for the England Under-15 team and the England Under-16s.

Chelsea acquired Golding from AFC Wimbledon after his Under-12 season. So, it would be a complete coincidence if he ended up making his professional debut against his former team.

Michael Golding, the wonderkid of Chelsea

Golding, who competes in the Under-18 division, is less well recognised than other enormous talents from Chelsea, such as Andrey Santos, Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka, and others.

However, if the central midfielder keeps progressing at this rate, we anticipate that everyone will be aware of him.

Michael Golding was born in Kingston, southwest London on May 23, 2006. But he is eligible to represent both England and the Republic of Ireland through his family. The Chelsea star has also led England at the Under-16 and Under-17 levels, highlighting his leadership abilities.

The talent that AFC Wimbledon first fostered in Michael Golding has been refined by Chelsea to make him a central midfielder. However, the youngster is able to function in the entire Blues engine room. He has made appearances as a holding midfielder, an attacking midfielder, and even as a striker on occasion.

Golding has the ideal manager at Stamford Bridge in Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino oversaw the development of players like Dele Alli, Kyle Walker, and Harry Kane become superstars at Tottenham.

As Chelsea looks to advance in the Carabao Cup tonight, hopefully we can see Golding in action for the Blues.
