Cristiano Ronaldo May End Up Staying At United

Despite the persistent rumours regarding his future, Cristiano Ronaldo is allegedly planning to stay at Manchester United.

Ronaldo reportedly requested that Manchester United accept any suitable offers for him this summer. He is not happy with the lack of Champions League football this season. Ronaldo is also rumoured to be dissatisfied with Man United’s lack of activity this summer and doubts that the team will be able to contend for titles the following year.

Ronaldo made a glorious return to Manchester United last summer from Juventus. However, his return was not exactly a fairytale. United often struggled in games, and ended up with their worst points tally in the Premier League era.

In an interview in January, Ronaldo highlighted how he has not come to Old Trafford to settle for fifth or sixth place. He demands that the team be competing for the highest honors. But at the moment, Manchester United look far from it.

We are capable of changing things now. I know the way but I‘m not going to mention it here because I don’t think it’s ethical on my part to say that. What I can say is we can do better – all of us. Manchester (United) belongs to important things, so we have to change that.

I don‘t want to be here to be in sixth place, or seventh place, or fifth place. I’m here to try to win, to compete. I think we compete but we are not yet in our best level. But we have a long way to improve and I believe if we change our mind, we can achieve big things.

Ronaldo And His Current Stance

With Ronaldo approaching 40 and United in need of a rebuild, he probably has to go somewhere else to win another Champions League.

Chelsea, Bayern, Barcelona and PSG are said to be interested. But The German giants have declined the opportunity to sign the superstar, citing wage issues. New PSG director Luis Campos isn’t very keen on the signing either.

Chelsea so far have appeared to be the frontrunners for the former Madrid man. Todd Boehly has reportedly been in talks with Jorge Mendes over a transfer. However, Manchester United may not be in favour of selling Ronaldo to a direct rival

With all his potential options looking unlikely, Cristiano Ronaldo may have to remain at United next season. He will hope that a new manager can kick things in order and make the Red Devils compete again.
