Danny Ings looks to be released from Aston Villa

Aston Villa looks to continue with their plans of a summer overhaul as they released their list of retained players. They also confirmed that they would be releasing eight players for the coming season. However, a surprise rumor that has been doing the rounds recently is the departure of their striker Danny Ings.

It is said that Villa could show the door to the striker as Steven Gerrard looks to bring another striker to Villa Park. Ings arrived at the club only last summer. However, despite having a positive start to the season, his form trickled down. This was because of injuries for which he missed some games.

After that, some poor finishing in front of the goal led to the coach losing faith in him. His former club Southampton, Bournemouth, and Brighton are all said to be keeping an eye on the development.

Though there is a lack of credibility to these stories, it has popped up a number of times since the end of the season. However, Ings has a good goal-scoring record. Therefore, his departure would come as a surprise after he spent only one season at Villa Park.

Veteran full-back Ashley Young is to be released this summer by Aston Villa

The Englishman who spent a year at the Villa Park has been released by the club this summer. Though it is known that Young was offered an extension in his contract, he decided to move on.

This can be because a host of new players who has joined the club could lead him to less game time at the club. Though he would be turning 37 this year, he still seems to have some playing time left in his shoes. Another notable player to make the move from Villa this season is Irish international Conor Hourihane.

Hourihane joined the club back in 2017 and he was instrumental in the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2019. Moreover, he has 151 appearances under his belt for the club. During that tenure, he scored 29 goals and provided 23 assists.
