According to a report dropped by Sky Sports, Aston Villa have no intention to sell Danny Ings in the summer. The player only joined the Villa Park outfit last term from Southampton for £26.48 million. His first campaign, the recently concluded, one was quite underwhelming going by his standards. In a total of 31 appearances in all competitions this season, he bagged 7 goals. Also, he assisted for further 6 goals.
However, just after one season, reports arose that Steven Gerrard might end up selling him. This is to make room for a marquee signing, like Luis Suarez, to whom reports linked to unite with his former teammate. But that is not the case, according to the latest news disclosed by Sky Sports.
In a live TV update, Sky Sports provided an update regarding the future of Danny Ings at the Midlands club. They were told ‘in the last few minutes’ that Villa have ‘no intention of selling’ Ings despite rumours of a move to Manchester United or Leeds United, adding that Gerrard sees Ings as an ‘integral part of his squad’.
Danny Ings Situation
Aston Villa is quite short in the central forward position. So it will be intelligent to keep hold of someone like Danny Ings who proved himself in PL in past. Other than that, Ollie Watkins is quite a decent striker of the ball and the two could form a formidable duo at the top for Aston Villa.
The other two centre forwards of Villa, Keinan Davis and Cameron Archer spent the last season on loan in Championship. So keeping Ings and continuing with him can be beneficial. Gerrard even tasted success in the two-striker system with Watkins and Ings leading.
However, bringing in a new striker can also be a good decision as it will pose a challenge to the duo, bringing the best out of them.
